Fred C. Elmore
September 26, 1936 - February 10, 2013
Fred C. Elmore, 76, died Sunday, February 10, 2013 at Memorial University Medical Center. He was born in Roanoke Rapids, NC, son of the late Edgar Wiles and Christine Cranwell Elmore. He attended high school in Roanoke Rapids and then joined the United States Air Force where he spent four years. After the military, he began his career in aviation and later became owner of Industrial Metals and also owned a paint contracting business. He was a devoted Atlanta Braves fan, loved his flight simulator and as the son of a carpenter, continued his father's craft as an avid woodworker. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Jimmy Elmore.
Surviving are his wife of 32 years, Tammy L. Elmore of Savannah; son and daughter-in-law, Ashley Wayne and Angela Simpson of Wesley Chapel, FL; daughters and son-in-law, Christy and Jeremy Wilson of Savannah; Tammy Elmore Cox of Mobile, AL; mother-in-law, Betty Stevenson of Savannah; sister-in-law, Debbie Simmons of Elba, AL; brother-in-law, Stan Wicker of Elba, AL; sister-in-law, Virginia Riley of Savannah; sister-in-law, Lib Elmore of Raleigh, NC; five grandsons and two granddaughters.
Funeral Service: 11:00 a.m., Thursday, February 14, 2013 in the Hodgson Chapel of Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.
Burial: The Greenwich section of Bonaventure Cemetery.
